Who we are

ArenaGear is a family-owned and operated company based in McKinney, Texas. Founded in 2007 by Andrew Cila, Ph.D., primarily for the development of electronic horse-cutting training systems for a large local OEM. 

In 2015, Andrew developed the ArenaGear Timer out of frustration with not being able to always hear his and his wife's time announcements during Cowboy Mounted Shooting events. He wanted a system that would broadcast results directly to his (and everyone else's) phone and could be used for practice, small-group training, and competition. 

Andrew's 3 degrees in Electrical Engineering and over 30 years of experience designing laser-guided missile guidance systems for the US military enabled him to create a superior product that not only broadcasts the time to smartphones but also surpasses existing products in precision, battery life, price, and range.

Soon after he started bringing his timer to practices, the Barrel Racing community became interested and asked Andrew to make it available for purchase online.

In 2019, ArenaGear introduced new product lines to service other sports that depend on very accurate timekeeping, such as Track and Field, Football Combines, Long Distance race events, and Dog Agility competitions. The new product lines were so successful that we had to quadruple our production capacity in order to keep up with demand.

ArenaGear is now one of the largest manufacturers of timing gates in the United States and a #1 Best Seller on Amazon, selling in 12 countries in America, Europe, New Zealand, and Australia.
