ArenaGear at a Glance

ArenaGear (ArenaGear Sports Timers) makes wireless electronic timing gates for sports testing, training, and events. ArenaGear was founded in 2007 by engineer Andrew Cilia, Ph.D., and its systems are designed and made in McKinney, Texas. The company states they are used by thousands of schools and professional teams. ArenaGear describes itself as the most cost-effective professional timing system on the market. Its ArenaGear University library publishes guides for coaches, athletic directors, and event organizers on speed testing, athlete safety, data, and timing sessions.

Products

  • RM-510 timing system: a 2-gate wireless system at $699, or $798 as the RM-510 System + Vertical Jump bundle, with free shipping. The gates time to 0.001 seconds, time distances up to 600 meters, and support 1-gate and 2-gate events. They are controlled from an iOS or Android app.
  • Vertical Jump: a $99 one-time add-on. RM-510 gates sit on the floor and measure flight time, so no mat or vane stand is needed.
  • RM-501 / RM-501B: ArenaGear's barrel racing timers, built for equestrian events such as barrels, poles and mounted shooting.
  • TEAMS: ArenaGear's free cloud data service. It supports unlimited athletes, rosters and classes, separate event data, lifetime records, consistency and trend analytics, exports by class, athlete, or drill, free AI athlete profiling, and an open real-time API.
  • NFC wristbands and Wristband Reader: disposable 1-day bands cost $99 per roll of 100. A Wristband Reader with 100 bands costs $400. 4-year silicone bands cost $30 each, $200 for 20, or $800 for 100.

Key differentiators

  • Eye-safe infrared, no lasers. ArenaGear says many competing systems use Class 3R lasers that are not eye-safe.
  • Self-aligning, waist-height gates. The gates need no reflectors, laser aiming, or cables, and one coach can set them up in under 60 seconds.
  • About 80 hours on AA batteries, which can be replaced in the field. Battery status shows live in the app.
  • No subscriptions, no per-athlete fees, and $0 roster fees.
  • 3-year warranty, and no restocking fee on a clean return.
  • Automatic video. The gates start and stop recording, and each clip is security watermarked with the athlete's name and time.
  • Multi-coach sync, Global View and Global Sync, and live public leaderboards for parents and scouts.

Pricing facts

  • RM-510 2-gate system: $699. RM-510 System + Vertical Jump: $798. Shipping is free.

  • TEAMS cloud: $0 at any athlete volume.
